Should I repair or rebuild my deck?

If the frame, footings, and ledger are sound, new boards and railings can give it more good years. If the structure is soft, loose, or rotting, a rebuild is the safer call. We'll tell you which after we look underneath.

How high does a deck railing need to be?

Building codes generally require a guard once a deck is more than 30 inches above the ground, and residential guards are typically at least 36 inches tall. Your town's code has the final word.

Wood or composite?

Wood costs less up front and needs regular cleaning and sealing. Composite costs more and needs less upkeep. We'll talk through what fits your budget and how you use the deck.

How much does a new deck cost?

Every deck is quoted after we see the yard. Size, height, materials, stairs, and railings all affect the price.

How do I take care of my deck?

Sweep it, clean it once or twice a year, and check railings and stairs each spring. Wood decks also need resealing every few years.

Can you add stairs or railings to my deck?
